【摘要】:Thispracticesummarizesthestepsintheantimicrobialpesticideselectionprocess,reviewingtechnicalandregulatoryconsiderationsinherentintheprocess.ItcomplementsandamplifiesinformationprovidedinPracticeE1497.5.1.1Stepsintheantimicrobialselectionprocessinclude:needsidentification,usestrategyselection,efficacytesting,chemicalcompatibilitytesting,regulatoryconsiderationreview,handlinganddisposalissuereview.Thispracticeprovidesstakeholdersinthemicrobicideselectionprocessanoverviewofitscomplexities,includingtheprocessofobtainingpesticideregistrationfromcognizantgoverningbodies.Personnelresponsibleforantimicrobialpesticideselectionwillbeabletousethispracticeasaroadmapthroughtheprocess.Personnelresponsibleforindustrialhygiene,productorplantmanagementwillgaininsighttothetradeoffsattendantwithantimicrobialuseandselection.1.1Thispracticeprovidesrecommendationsforselectingantimicrobialpesticides(microbicides)foruseinwater-misciblemetalworkingfluids(MWF).Itpresentsinformationregardingregulatoryrequirements,aswellastechnicalfactorsincludingtargetmicrobes,efficacyandchemicalcompatibility.1.2Thisguideisnotanencyclopediccompilationofalltheconceptsandterminologyusesbychemists,microbiologists,toxicologists,formulators,plantengineersandregulatoryaffairsspecialistsinvolvedinantimicrobialpesticideselectionandapplication.Instead,itprovidesageneralunderstandingoftheselectionprocessanditssupportingconsiderations.1.3ThevaluesinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
